The announcement of a new year is a propitious moment in which projects and wishes are expressed as a continuation of the round-up of actions past. Thus, it is the chance for the team around me and for me to send you our best wishes, and to pass on to you the results of our thinking on materialising our future work.
2011 will have seen a series of varied actions, but above all it was – in a variety of complementary domains – the subject of consideration, which I hope will lead to life in a city that blends comfort, welfare, and solidarity.

Urban planning for security will be carried out, particularly in the town centre, where elected officials have made a priority of maintaining the area’s activity by renovating the Vieux Relais. The municipal council recently decided to sign up to the “Terre Saine” (“Healthy Land”) charter; in that way, the commune commits itself to reducing the use of pesticides, modifying its management practices as regards public spaces, and encouraging people to act for the protection of our environment.

From the very beginning of 2012, the commune wishes to respond to calls from healthcare professionals, whose presence on our territory is essential to maintain the provision of care, which is of prime importance to us all. Premises that meet their needs are planned. The reform of local authorities that guides the future of the entire population, present and future, is following the planned course. It is now the Prefect who, after validation of a plan that recasts the inter-communal landscape, will “take charge”; the municipal council will pay heed to her recommendations, and will have to reposition itself in the face of challenges that involve reconciling the relevance, the size, and the future of our territory.

In May 2012, a 25-person Airvault delegation will travel to our twin town of Wisznice to consolidate our exchanges.

In this period of transition to a world that – I hope – will be different and better, we must come together and combine our greatest strengths to give fresh hope and enthusiasm to our young people, who are the guarantee of our future. May 2012 make those wishes become reality!
